Riverside Log Cabins are situated looking across the River Earn to fields and the hills beyond, 3 miles from the village of Comrie and less than 2 miles from Loch Earn where the smaller village of St Fillans is at the north-east gateway to the recently formed Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park(external link). The area around the cabins has been designated as being of outstanding natural beauty. Whether you want to rest and unwind, or see more of Scotland, Riverside Log Cabins provide an ideal location.

Close to Riverside Log Cabins there is scope for all country pursuits and for just enjoying nature - climb a tree or discover our local swimming place where you can swim in a sun heated pool in the river, a well kept local secret!

The Countryside
Around Riverside a great variety of wildlife - deer, ducks, Birds of Prey(external link), Red Squirrels(external link), rabbits and many more - are at home in the natural beauty of mountains, lochs, rivers and woodland.

Perthshire is known as "Big Tree Country(external link)" and has the finest heritage imaginable. The tallest and longest hedge in the world, the tallest tree in Britain and the oldest living tree in Europe are all to be found nearby.

There are Riding stables at Comrie and Crieff with the renowned Gleneagles Equestrian Centre(external link) just 30 minutes drive from the cabins.

Ospreys, Buzzards and other birds of prey are frequently sighted locally and a sighting of ospreys is virtually guaranteed with a visit to the observation hide at the Loch of the Lowes Wildlife Centre(external link) near Dunkeld.

Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre(external link), only six miles from the Cabins offers, among many other attractions, demonstrations of falconry as does the Stuart Crystal Visitors Centre in Crieff, and there is a major falconry centre at Gleneagles Hotel (about 20 miles).

The area abounds with attractions to suit everyone from toddler to scientist. Within 3 miles of the cabins the Earthquake House(external link), which is listed as of special Architectural and Historic Interest, boasts a model of the original Mallet seismometer in their exhibition. Comrie has had several mild earthquakes, the earliest recorded "shock" being in 1597!

A wildlife park, several fisheries, a well signed paths network, cycles and boats for hire, riding stables, exhibitions and gardens to visit - the list of things to do around Riverside seems endless, and while most guests also take advantage of our central position to tour and see much of Scotland, they also seem to enjoy just relaxing.
